Junior Ranger Photo Shoot and Family Portraits

I’m really happy that I was able to spend time yesterday morning doing what I love for who I love and where I love to do it, Grand Canyon.

I work for the Grand Canyon Association full -time in Marketing as the Digital Media Coordinator (photography at www, is a side business). For a very long time we have continually used this terrible old photo of some Junior Rangers being sworn in – this photo is probably so old that those kids have kids 😛 So, we decided to try to stage a few of our own. My colleague offered to participate and brought his 3 adorable kiddos to the rim of Grand Canyon. We decided to take a few family shots while everyone was together.

It is because of the generosity of Grand Canyon Association supporters that we have the robust JR Ranger program that we do at Grand Canyon. At Grand Canyon there are three different kinds of Junior Ranger Programs to participate in, the South Rim, the North Rim and we even have a program geared toward the inner canyon – the Phantom Rattler.

Junior Rangers can pick up a booklet at any visitor center and in all Grand Canyon Association Park Stores. The program is not only for children and even adults can earn badges. After filling in a few pages in the workbook and attending a ranger-led program, Junior Rangers in training can visit a park ranger to receive a badge and be sworn in.
