Brandon, Candi and Stetsen

Everything about this Grand Canyon wedding was magical, pink dress, adorable miniature human in matching miniature pink bowtie, blue skies and genuine love from anyone around in all directions.

Generally, I am a pretty comfortable person in most of these small affairs I am invited to capture but this one was overly easy to be a part of. I can just tell what kind of a loving and beautiful family they are by how I felt in their company.

Brandon was the one to email me about the photos and he told me a little bit about how they met after we decided that I would photograph their wedding at Lipan Point in Grand Canyon. Brandon explained that he visited Grand Canyon once a year for the last 8 years, he couldn’t think of a better place to be married but he wouldn’t only be marrying Candi, he would in fact be including her 3-year-old son, Stetsen, into the Grand Canyon Wedding. He seemed to easily express his love story to me in saying, “Most importantly Stetsen is the center of her world, she is the center of his and they are the center of my world”.

Knowing a little bit about my clients (I can’t think of a better word, this is so sterile for how I feel emotionally connected to the photos I take) honestly helps me take better photos and elicit more genuine reactions. I think photography is more than just the right exposures and beautiful light but the ability to capture or convey the essence of someone or moment in time. I think it’s dependent on being comfortable with the subject and the subject with me. I like to think I have a knack for it. This one wedding in particular, I didn’t have to try.
