Flagstaff Arboretum Wedding – Ryan and Lizzy

Arboretum at Flagstaff Wedding photography

I knew that when I met Lizzy and Ryan early one morning in the fresh snow at Grand Canyon, that I wanted to also take their wedding photos. They were so genuine and fun when I called them earlier than planned and asked them to meet me for their engagement photos in the snow at Grand Canyon. They happily did and had a great attitude about the cold and snow and even in some cases, sitting in the snow with no complaints after I asked them.  The wedding was no different, they seemed relaxed and at ease.

It was a stress-free situation when I met Lizzy and the bridesmaids at the Arboretum at Flagstaff. I loved the location. Having been to a friend’s wedding there in early August, I was very excited to try shooting a wedding here. The grounds are expansive and absolutely gorgeous plants and landscaping, nooks and crannies, greenhouses and other structures abound. Light filtered through the forest surrounding the Flagstaff Arboretum made for stunning backlight and so with so many different locations to choose from, I only wish I had a little bit more time.

The wedding encompassed around 130 people maybe 150, and I am only one photographer. I am forever thankful to my experience as a photographer in a high volume portrait studio, for many reasons but for one – working with efficiency, As a solo wedding photographer, it’s important to stay on track and schedule. The fasted you can get what you need early on, the more flexible time,m you have later for candid work. It’s nearly impossible to “get it all” but I really hope that these images convey a sense of feeling of what it was like to be there at the Flagstaff Arboretum on Lizzy and Ryan’s wedding day – Congratulations!
