Horseshoe Bend Elopement and Proposal Photography

Things to know about photography at horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is one of the most iconic and epic locations in Northern Arizona. Horseshoe Bend overlooks a bend in the smooth water of the Colorado River in Page Arizona. This section is right below the Glen Canyon dam and can also be kayaked in an easy day trip or overnight trip.

Although is can be crowded at times, there are ways to avoid the crowds. If you want to have your elopement at Horseshoe Bend, I can certainly help you plan it.

Also, there are other amazing locations at nearby Lake Powell to take photos at and this location could be THE wedding location or a stop for a "first look" on an all day elopement adventure in Northern Arizona.

Proposals are my absolute favorite but Horseshoe Bend is a total mess of people. The only way that you can truly have a private moment there is to take a tour with Horseshoe Bend Tours. With this company, they have some private land at the bend and offer limited tours with less people. In order to do a proposal there, I would book this tour for both of you and myself.

There are tours that guide you through both Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. Because the tour also encompasses Antelope slot canyon, this is a great place to propose. The tour goes first to antelope canyon and then to Horseshoe Bend. I would pick the last tour of the day, usually these start at 2pm and end at sunset at the bend. If you do the proposal in secret antelope canyon then after it's much easier to communicate with each other and get photos with as much of the bend as possible.

planning for engagement photos at Horseshoe Bend

It works best for sunset. It’s really hard to do group shots with even as much as partial view of the bend. In order to see the bend in photos, you must stand very close to the edge while I use a ladder. For the group shots it might be more realistic to plan for a slick red rock backdrop. In order to get to the bend, everyone must walk 3/4 a mile and then some walking around on uneven ground to get more photos.

It's really hard to get Horseshoe Bend in photos at all. In order to do this, there are only a couple of spots at the Horseshoe Bend Overlook. Usually, I will bring a ladder and will have to get up very close to the edge on the ladder and couples must be comfortable standing close to a sheer drop off. It's a nearly impossible shot, but I have done it. The more time you allow at the bend, the better the chances will be of letting other tourists come and go and being able to move along the rim to get to these locations with a partial view of the Horseshoe Bend.

YOU'RE MY PERSON IF you want an intentional and meaningful experience

YOU'RE MY PERSON IF you want to feel small in an epic landscape

You're my person if you want to be immersed in the moment

I go above and beyond just photographing your moments. Depending on who you are and what experience you want to feel, I am going to call in my team. I am your cupcake wrangler, musician talent scout, we are going to do things in a leave no trace way that fills your soul with light and love.

This is so much more than photography.

Terri is the absolute best!! We got married in Sedona and are from Ohio but she found the absolute perfect spot for our wedding!! She was sooo helpful and ensured our spot was perfect weeks and days in advance! This meant soo much to me since we were so far away! She was great with accommodating and communication. Plus the pictures turned out ABSOLUTELY incredible !!! She was so great with attention to detail and amazing with direction as well! I’m just so thankful I found her to make our wedding day so perfect! Thank you Terri we love you!!

We couldn't have chosen a better photographer for our photo shoot at the Grand Canyon. Terri made the experience very enjoyable, and because she has experience in hiking and knows the area, she was able to take us to beautiful locations for the photos in complete safety and respecting our limitations. She also knew exactly the right moment for each click, to make the most of the sunset. - Caroline

I could t have hired a better photographer for what will be one of the most special and important days of me and my fiancées life. Terri was super helpful and very communicative leading up to our big day, she knows what she’s doing and helped me plan out my proposal with every last detail. 5/5 for Terri!!

Terri is incredible! She is an amazing photographer and captured the moment better than I could have imagined / hoped for. She is also a pleasure to work with during the planning phase, and was extremely flexible on the day of a huge snowstorm at the Canyon. Highly recommend Terri! -Tabish
