A Grand Canyon Elopement Across Cultures

Krunal and Maha grew up in Chicago but have Indian and Pakistani roots. When Maha wrote me about their love, I felt even more for them. They wanted to take Grand Canyon Elopement photos.

She said, “Although the two countries seem similar, we struggled a lot to get married because there are some major cultural/religious differences which made it difficult to convince my family specifically. Unfortunately they’re still not convinced but what Krunal and I have is very special. I couldn’t not be with my soulmate. One day they’ll come around.”

They married in a courthouse and also mosque but had yet to tell their families and friends. With a trip already set for Arizona, Maha decided they would take wedding photos at Grand Canyon and share their love and commitment to each other.

Although they were married twice before, never did they wear these outfits and I was so excited to see them in the traditional clothing and learn that that was the most formally they dressed together to celebrate their union.
