What happens if it rains or if something doesn’t go as planned? This is easily the most commonly asked question that I receive regarding a couple’s elopement day. Sometimes, it isn’t just the weather, it can be something as simple as forgetting to bring your wedding suit. That’s why we design your Grand Canyon elopement package with the possibility of the unknown already factored into the experience!

The Grand Canyon Experience — Fully Immersive & Flexible
Most of the time, I’ll tell you to embrace the weather because the canyon often looks its most dramatic when the sky is alive with “bad” weather. But, along with inclement weather comes road closures, park shutdowns, and additional unexpected delays that may prevent us from making use of our desired spots.

That’s why I’ve designed the following Grand Canyon elopement packages for couples who want space, flexibility, and a deeply intentional experience. These options offer a fully immersive experience whose total hours of coverage (six or eight hours) can be split between up to three days.

The day before and the day after your wedding date are reserved for you to allow flexibility for weather, travel issues, park closures, or any unexpected changes. This additional time also allows time for rest, meals, travel, and the other responsibilities that come with photographing an adventure elopement in the outdoors.

The built-in flexibility allows us to find the very best light, have flexibility with weather, or even use some of your package hours at a secondary location in Sedona, around Lake Powell, or in the Painted Desert. When conditions align, this may include starry night portraits or a hike into the canyon. It can also incorporate an evening shadow ceremony, grounding rituals, or a deeply personal soul-bonding experience.

Here’s how the 6 or 8-hour split works for your elopement photography:

- Broken up in as small as 2-hour blocks of time over the course of 3 days.
- It can include three 2-hour sessions in different locations within the 2.5 hour radius of Flagstaff: secret sand cave, Horseshoe Bend, Lees Ferry, Edge of the World, etc.
- Even with the surrounding days reserved, each package is still tied to these maximum number of photography hours (6-8 hours).

Making Your Elopement Day Itinerary
Before the elopement, we’ll create a detailed itinerary together based on your preferred locations, lighting, ceremony timing, lodging, activities, travel logistics, and everything else that makes the most sense for your experience. Whether that’s two hours at three different locations or spending all of your photography time in one meaningful place, the itinerary is crafted intentionally in advance.

If everything goes exactly as planned, the experience is completed as outlined in your timeline for your 6-8 hours of coverage. However, if weather or another emergency causes us to adjust the original plan, those reserved days give us options.
Depending on what unfolds, that flexibility may allow us to move part of the experience to another day or, in some cases, incorporate a secondary location in a place like Sedona, Lake Powell, or the Painted Desert if it best serves the story and schedule.
