How to have a Horseshoe Bend Wedding

Horseshoe Bend Engagement Proposal

HorseShoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is one of the most iconic and epic locations in  Northern Arizona. Horseshoe Bend overlooks a bend in the smooth water of the Colorado River in Page Arizona. This section is right below the Glen Canyon dam and can also be kayaked in an easy day trip or overnight trip.

Although is can be crowded at times, there are ways to avoid the crowds. If you want to have your elopement at Horseshoe Bend, I can certainly help you plan it.

Also, there are other amazing locations at nearby Lake Powell to take photos at and this location could be THE wedding location or a stop for a "first look" on an all day elopement adventure in Northern Arizona.

How to get married at Horseshoe Bend:

1. look for a photographer. I would do this first. Photographers can be area experts. They will know the location well. Knowing the location is only a piece of the puzzle, maybe times of the year are quieter than others, or certain wedding ideas work better than others, they will have great advice on how to plan your elopement. They will know the rules of your permit and will help you understand what is allowed.

2. Choose a date. Pro tips include: pick a weekday, choose off-season.

3.  Get a Permit - You'll need a special use permit. The form must be submitted 45 days or more from your wedding date.

Today, the application fee is $100 and permit fee is $200. It costs $10 for parking.

*Currently, if you have less that 5 people as part of your wedding ceremony, you do not need a special use permit. As rules are always subject to change and interpretation, I ask that couples wanting to elope at Horseshoe Bend contact the permit office for advance assurance.

details of your elopement day at Horseshoe

Your elopement shouldn't give you an ulcer.  Instead, you will feel free and alive and in the present moment on your day because I will take care of ironing out all of the little details.

Be it hiking, biking, jeep tours, sunrises or sunset, or an intimate exchange of vows and a celebration under the stars, I'm here to help you plan it.

We might need permits, florals, cake (there should always be cake), or camping reservations, but you shouldn't skimp out on the details, every little detail will come together to make you feel alive and free and wildly in love.

Because you'll be opting out of inviting the entire family, these photos are even more important. It's the way that you will still be able to tell these people what they mean to you, as it will be your only way to include them.

I will be sure to capture every organic moment as it unfolds and tell your friends and family the story about the day you were married.

Terri came all the way to Denver to do our wedding, and she did an incredible job! Couldn't have been more comfortable with her taking the photos (bc sometimes posing for pictures is hella awkward, but it wasn't bad at all with her!) She was very professional and got what was needed while also being mindful of our time and need to party! The candid shots she got are some of my favorites! I couldn't have imagined better results! Thanks Terri!

-Molly

FABULOUS photographer! Terri took adventure wedding photos of my husband and me at sunset at the Grand Canyon. She knew exactly where to go for the perfect lighting and amazing colors. Super efficient and adventurous, moving us around to different beautiful spots for variety, but always checking in to make sure we felt comfortable. She sent us a sneak peak so quickly and had all of our photos ready in just a few days! We'll cherish these photos forever!

Terri is absolutely wonderful to work with. She took the trouble to meet with us before our wedding and discuss the pictures we wanted, and on the day she was full of energy and created fantastic shots for us. She really went above and beyond, doing a lot more than we expected of her in terms of the time she took and all of the different ideas she had for great photos, and we appreciate the amazing results very much. Highly recommend Terri's photography!

I helped put on a Grand Canyon wedding for my friends and we hired Terri for the pics. She was amazing. Of course she got all the regular shots you would expect from a wedding but she also was able to capture much more. She got the grandparents, parents, kids, groomsmen, and bridesmaids in action. Catching people living in the moment is a gift. And Terri has it. Thanks Terri for capturing those magical moments that made the day super special. Memories forever and the pics to remind us.

We'll be in touch soon!

Thank you!
